Adaptive are a Derby-based web development agency. Our approach is to create websites that truly work and generate business for our customers. We can work with customer-supplied designs or use our internal design team.

All of the Adaptive team live in or around Derby. Most of us are ex-Derby Telegraph employees and have worked together for many years. We are not "cheap n' cheerful" for a reason - for a small-medium sized company a website is more than just pretty pictures. We find most of our customers have slightly more technical requirements than an online brochure. We specialise in Content Management Systems which integrate with other systems such as back-office, ecommerce, extranets and so on.

Most of our websites are created using a Content Management System called Drupal. This enables customers to manage their website (if they wish) and to future-proof their investment in their website where the bulk of the cost, in the CMS, is re-used for many different designs and iterations. For us the aesthetic design is just one part of the website - there are many other aspects to consider such as:

• Language - use language that your customers can understand, not technical or specialist words unless your customers understand those terms


• Benefits - what makes you different? Why should your customers use you?


• Calls to action - what do you want your customers to do once they've decided they like the look of you?


• Marketing - how will you reach out to your customers?
