Access Agriculture
About Access Agriculture
Access Agriculture is an international NGO which showcases agricultural training videos in local languages.
Their website - www.accessagriculture.org - is a platform for agricultural R&D staff, service providers, representatives of farmer organisations and others to see what training videos are available and request new language versions. The videos are all designed to support sustainable agriculture in developing countries.
Our work with Access Agriculture
AA initially approached us looking for support with their existing Drupal site, Access Agriculture. At the time, they also had a Beta version of the Agtube site up and running but were having problems moving the project on and so turned to Adaptive to rebuild the Agtube site in Drupal.
From the initial requirements gathering through to designing and developing the new site, we've worked closely with AA to deliver a modern, easy-to-use platform which enables users to share their own agricultural videos with the community.
In 2016, we developed a new, bespoke solution for the uploading, management and streaming of videos on both platforms, utilising various services from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver a customised system perfectly suited to AA's needs. The solution enabled AA to remove their previous dependency on third-party video platforms and has proved to be a stable and successful system for managing all video content across both platforms.
Early in 2018, we designed, applied and launched a brand new visual design for the Access Agriculture website. The previous design had become quite dated and, crucially, wasn’t built on a responsive template so wasn’t mobile or tablet friendly – a key issue for the organisation given that so much of their target audience now access the site on mobile and tablet devices. In addition to bringing the site design up-to-date and making it work responsively, we also wanted to ensure that the video platform nature of the site was very clear and that the latest and most popular video content was suitably showcased, both on the main homepage and throughout the site as a whole. We were delighted to see the project win a EVCOM Clarion Award in the category of International Award for Innovation!
