About the Client:

Lingoo is a community website, dedicated to improving language learning for school children, primarily through language exchange holidays or by paying to stay with a host family.

Lingoo allows parents to get in contact with like-minded families who have children of the same age with the same interests and values. Families meet, get to know each other and are then able to organise language exchange holidays for their children directly without the need for an expensive agent. The site is secure and all of our families have followed a registration process with a clear protocol governing identification and security.

Our Work for Lingoo:

Lingoo first approached us in late 2013. They were having considerable performance issues with their Drupal website which their agency at the time were struggling to resolve. They also had a long list of fixes and improvements they wished to make to the site which, again, were proving difficult to get resolved.

Our first task was to improve the performance of the site, reviewing and improving the current caching implementation on it and also reviewing and cleaning up some of the more resource-intensive custom coding on the site to ensure it ran much more efficiently. We also moved the site to a more suitable server environment, optimised for the site and its busy traffic levels.

We then embarked on a programme of bug fixes and enhancements to the site under a monthly Drupal Support contract. This helped to not only alleviate a number of long-term bugs and issues which had plagued both customers and admin staff alike, but also enabled the Lingoo team to make much anticipated improvements to the site's functionality and UI, again benefiting both customers and the Lingoo team themselves.

In 2015/2016, we worked to completely redevelop the Lingoo site with the aim of tailoring the new site to match with the organisation's growing business model. We've spent considerable time with Peter and Anne at Lingoo to fully understand the requirements and objectives of the new version of the website, providing best advice and our own suggestions along the way to ensure the end product is perfect for their needs. We continue to support and improve the website ongoing.
