About the Client:

Walking for Health is England’s largest network of health walk schemes, helping people across the country lead a more active lifestyle for over 14 years.

Originally funded by the Government via Natural England, the project was taken over by The Ramblers in 2012, with funding from Macmillan Cancer Support.

The project currently oversees around 3,000 weekly walks, led by over 10,000 volunteers, and helps over 70,000 regular walkers each year to get and stay active.

Our Work for Walking for Health:

Adaptive's relationship with the Walking for Health project dates right back to 2001, when some of the Adaptive team worked for their previous employer, Northcliffe Media. A number of our current team worked on the very first Walking for Health site back then and we're extremely proud to still be involved with the project to this day.

The website has undergone a number of major transformations over the years, including several redesigns in Drupal since being under Adaptive's care to match with its brand and ownership changes.

In 2014/15, the project took its greatest technical leap forward to date when the website was heavily redeveloped to incorporate the organisation's huge database of walker and scheme data. As part of this, new functionality was developed to enable the organisation, along with its many volunteers across the UK, to be able to manage all their data for walks, schemes, volunteers and walkers in an intuitive, structured way.

The new database system also enables complex reports to be produced from the several million data records stored within the site.

Our Customers Say...

Developing a new website is never easy, you will always question your own ability to understand your customers and how to interact with them in the most effective way. Meeting with Adaptive was a very reassuring experience, as they will very quickly work with you to develop your vision. They are helpful and supportive but never intrusive or pushy. This continues the style through the build process, with a great team of individuals who want to make things work for you, without fuss or hassle, quickly understanding your issues and concerns and converting that into a reality that really works. Would I recommend Adaptive? Absolutely. Go for it.
